The website is primarily about commercial shipping news under the shipsNEWS-feature on Irish ports and waters accompanied with marine photography of merchant vessels. In addition unique feature articles from the past are to be featured in the shipsARCHIVES series.

As a free-lance marine correspondent, nautical reseacher and ship photographer, Jehan has written for several Irish and British specialist maritime publications, journals and newspapers. They include InshoreIreland (a bi-monthly supplement with the Irish Farmers Journal), Iris na Mara (Journal of the Maritime Institute of Ireland), Afloat, Ships Monthly and The Irish Times.

He also specialises in marine research projects for publications on a consultant basis which has included compiling the Irish Sea Cruising Route Guide 2006 and Watersports for All for the Irish Sea Marine Sector/ EU Interreg IIIA Programme.

Background: Stemming from childhood, Jehan's interest in the sea and matters maritime derived from living beside Dublin Bay.

Vessels heading to and from Dun Laoghaire and Dublin Port were documented in a land-based 'Ships-Log' through his 'Ship-Spotting' activities! It is from those years of observation that Jehan has gained an invaluable insight into the commercial shipping aspects of Dublin Bay and to boarding vessels nationwide.

Of particular interest are the ferries which he has travelled extensively from Ireland and reported avidly on the Irish Sea ferry industry. He also has a fascination in the coastal shipping scene at small ports and vessels berthed at isolated river-wharfs and creeks.

In addition Jehan has worked for the Irish Fishermen's Organisation (I.F.O.) and was a former Membership Secretary of the Maritime Institute of Ireland.
